Yes, because I was using my Eldritch powers to make mobs attack you. I could say the same thing about you - we started doing fairly well after you left; I got a couple more levels.
Groups usually aren't that big at the lower levels, but we need to level all our guys up together. In DAOC, the size of pulls scale with the size of the group to like 5-6 mobs per pull with an 8 man group. But at the lower levels you don't have the aggro and CC tools to really deal with that many mobs effectively.
I think you may want to stick with WoW and all the copies if the big boy MMOs are too hard for you.
