I added another 4gigs of RAM to my computer so I'm up to 8gigs now (not just for this game, was planning to do it anyway). My computer is no longer sluggish after I close SWTOR, was a bit surprised it made that much of a difference. In game performance doesn't seem to have changed much though.
Q6600, 8800GT, 8GB ddr2 800, Win7 64bit, it runs pretty smoothly on this, but I have settings on low cept for texture quality is on high because a friend of mine mentioned that their computer actually runs the game better with it on high rather than low. Which is a bit odd, I didn't really notice any change with the switch.

I'm playing an Operative on Vulkar Highway if anyone else is there. Name: Xuzi
SWTOR can only use a max of 2 GB Ram (Since it is a 32 bit application, even running on a 64 bit machine). That would explain why it wouldn't improve the performance of the game, and it did however let your tasks in the background keep their memory, instead of paging and forcing the computer to pull all that from hard drive after leaving the game.

However, now that I think about it, SWTOR actually utilizes two processes, which means its theoretical maximum memory usage is 4 GB.. But I don't think that it will be splitting the memory load that evenly, one of those processes has to be responsible for graphics while the other is responsible for mechanics and gameplay, and the former would be using the bulk of memory.
