Yes, games designed for pvp makes pvp much like the pve grind is in everquest, brain dead and boring.
That's because that model is what works. Remember Shadowbane? It didn't last; that model is not appealing. Dark Age Of Camelot on the other hand had the best PvP of any MMORPG.

You want good PvP, play DAOC. There's emulators for it. You want the frustration of a MMORPG that was never designed for PvP, play EQ.

(hint: item loss, xp loss etc. do not a good PvP game make, else we'd have successful MMORPGs that used that model)
