People like EverQuest because it's challenging. If you don't like difficulty, time sinks, and frustrating game play, then you're not reading this because you're too busy running dailies on WoW.

I'm a fan of both pve and pvp, but that challenge has to remain at the high end. Once you hit 60 on this server, what is there to do? Take turns holding hands with rival guilds and randoming for content? No thank you, that's not EverQuest. P99 was fun for a short-lived month or two when there was actual racing to content and contention. Now the server has turned into WoW, only with shittier graphics and waiting to take your turn on raid content instead of just doing it in instances.

The solution is PvP. If I deserve Nagafen more than your guild, it's because we out-played you. No GM play nice bullshit to ruin the challenge that's inherent in this game. You know that rush you get when you beat another guild to Cazic Thule? Imagine that after a half an hour long pvp battle across the Plane of Fear where you had to exert your control of the zone versus a rival guild. It makes even that damn piccolo seem well-earned (I guess). That "I dun good" rush you experience in EQ is amplified in PvP.

And that about sums up why people prefer PvP to PvE. You're playing the game for the challenge, might as well ramp things up a bit.

Red99 has just as terrible of a player base as Blue. In fact, it may be a bit better considering the only kind of people who will hang are those who excel at the game (generally people with a higher intelligence). If you don't like random players/guilds, don't group/play with them. On Blue your best option is /ignore. On Red99 at least you can get some satisfaction out of killing people you dislike.
