playing a mage on blue, chain petting around 30ish for a mage is pretty much out of the question bro. once or twice maybe.. but its really not a viable solution until 40+ geared with a pretty hefty mana pool. and even then only under extreme circumstances or just being plain greedy kiting 3+ seafuries on the island with firepets, lool. gotta get them fat lewts, idk.. i vaguely remember the 30's , my whole life was slaying Deputies in RV at that point.
great exps, i had it so i could manuever around town and get 11-13 of em that i could kill before i had enough time to have a quick med break before repops.
never really did have to chain summon either, the pet heal at that point actually does better, restoring about 50% of the firepets hps, chain summoning is retarded. not to mention anybody who knows how to play a mage can hold 2 mobs aggro with a single pet. U.u i'd say 3, but by that point chances are the little dudes taking too much of a beating that heals would be neccesary, thus you would pull aggro from the 3rd, IDK, just my 2cent. a magician can do alot in terms of CC considering, best to keep 50%+ mana when in a group situation, and emplore wizard tactics of nuke/burn when you get nasty adds as well.
you'll prolly take a few hits yeah sure, but the adds down and things are back to proper. that 20-30% dmg you took? thats what the phantom armor line is for bro. best self-buff i can think of IMO.

EDIT * point being at the given time/situation, chaining a firepet wouldnt work out in your best interest bro.
