There are few people who are more against the idea of class-specific subforums than me. Wouldn't this idea be much more efficient if you just had a couple of good articles written by pro rogues posted to the p99 wiki?

No. You can have good articles written by pros, but they may not include the info that a beginner would be most interested in. Or one pro could write what he feels is best while another writes something different, and you can't have a discussion about which is better on a wiki.
If there was a shaman forums, or at least a priest archetype forums, I know that I would post there with thoughts and questions that I don't feel warrant posting in general. I'd post a guide for breaking X camp solo at level Y. I'd post where to go hunt for gear upgrades. I'd post asking where to hunt at level Z. I'd post questioning the benefits of Canni II over Canni I and when to use which.
Class specific forums would see less use than Server Chat, but in my opinion that'd be a good thing as information would be more visible. If I posted any of the above in server, they'd be on page 3 in a couple days. In a class forums they'd stick around longer for people to see, debate, and comment.
There are a lot of casual gamers that play on P99, and many even read the forums too but never bother to do more than lurk. Class forums have the feel of a smaller community that will draw out more posters.
In the end though, what is the harm in having a class or archetype forum section? Don't click on it if you don't care about what's inside.
