The college football rivalry between Texas A&M (Aggies) and the University of Texas (Hook'em Horns) goes back more than a century. Before this season started, A&M announced that they were going to leave their conference and join the SEC. (Another inside joke is that they're leaving the Big 12 to be the Baylor of the SEC). They're leaving because UT makes the most money for the Big 12 and as a result takes a bigger piece of the Big 12 licensing pie. A&M wants the Big 12 to split all of the proceeds equally even though the profits brought in by UT alone is insanely lopsided compared to the other members of the conference. After making their exit from the Big 12 official, UT told A&M that they won't be able to squeeze them back into the schedule for at least 10 years, officially ending that rivalry, and officially bringing even less money to A&M for that time.
Today, UT and A&M faced off on Thanksgiving as has come to be their modern tradition. UT won the game, and it will be hanging over the Aggies heads until the next time they meet - who knows when that will be.
Cyrano is gloating about that.
