Out of curiosity, how do you figure? I assume you view yourself as a part of the solution, insofar as you do care about the United States' popular appeal in the Arab world. Why? What about that makes it "better"? I care about the best interests of the United States and its allies -- I'm unapologetic about that, as I'm a United States citizen. That doesn't mean I'm down to enslave the rest of humanity, but I don't care what Mohammad Abdul of Jordan thinks about me or my country. I really don't. I don't support infringing on his rights, but I'm perfectly fine with him hating me.
Fundamentalist Muslims hate us because of stupid shit like Christianity, globalization, and our influence in Saudi Arabia (read: mecca). There's no winning those guys over. Fuck 'em. Unfortunately, they're by and large the ones in power, and they use their religion to create a culture of unity that necessarily pits the Arab world against Western, non-Islamic influence. It is what it is.
