You're kidding, right? The value of a nuke isn't in using it. It's in threatening to use it. Iran gets a nuke and they get a seat at the big boy's table of international politics. Moreover, nukes don't come with a return address. Iran hands a nuke to Hezbollah and washes its hands of responsibility. What are you doing when Iran hands a nuke to a non-state actor? Invading? Like we did when we went into Afghanistan for al Qaeda? No. You're not doing shit. It's too late by then. Now, you can get in and out in a month and knock their nuclear program back a decade. Once they've got nuclear warheads, your window is closed.
And who gives a fuck what the Arab-speaking world thinks of us? Planning a trip to Jordan anytime soon? Our popularity there means dick and a half. What matters is military and economic power, and we've got the high ground by a mile in both regards. Let them get a nuke and shit changes real fast.
