I'm bored with beta, there's nobody to fight, and there's less and less interest in dedicating time because it doesn't count for anything. So that side of me screams "Release on Nov 4th, if not yesterday."
Then again, I appreciate that this isn't like old school EQ where they set a release date because they will lose holiday revenue, and drop a new xpac that's terribly done, with shit that's broken and buggy all over the place, and all kinds of crap is imbalanced and untested. This side of me demands "release it when it's ready".
That poses the question then - What's not ready? If most everything is ready (which I feel like it is at this point), release it on the 4th. The sooner the better, because newer games are coming out, including MMOs, and everyone here knows that they can get addicted to a new game in a heartbeat. Word can spread instantly nowdays, this isn't 1989, and people aren't going to find out via postcard a few weeks from now when they get it in the mail... the word is already out. I'd say that the majority of people that are going to play this already know about it. You might add a maximum 5-10% potential population by waiting another 2 weeks, but might lose a potential 10-20% to disinterest or new game releases. The logic of waiting for a higher potential population doesn't hold much water at this point, because most people that are going to know (or care) already know. Sure more will trickle in over time, and be ecstatic that they found '99 red, and say "Dang! If only I were here at server release!" But that will happen to many people, months apart, and you'll lose just as many if not more people by stalling.
