Keep in mind there is a difference from dps, and soloing, completely two different questions.
I can put a Runed Oak Bow on any ranger with max Archery, he can solo anything he wants, but it'll take quite awhile assuming your near a arrow vendor.
Pick any pair of 1 hander's or even high damage 2 handers, and they will always out dps any bow up to Velious/Kunark.
Your weapons will never be better then a bow dps wise if you compare any top end to another, only benefit I could see is maybe bow for ranged attacks to avoid spells/aoes?
