Dumb assessment.
You fight fire with fire, because fire cannot spread to an already burned forest
You fight violence with violence, either by your own hand or the state because it's an effective punishment tool
So why would fighting griefers by griefing them be any different? It's an effective punishment tool and stops them from their behavior because you nullify their ability to grief.
