It sounds like you missed the first part of the Getting Started post.
Specifically Step 4 which is to change your eqhost file. So long as the host file is changed you won't ever try to connect to Sony's servers

No I didn't miss it. It works the FIRST time. Anytime after that it somehow changes itself. Starts patching, then it's too late. I followed the directions, in fact I got it working on 2 computers. Just on mine for some reason it patches the game to retail EQ. (I checked, the host file even still says what it should.) Anyway, I have the launcher installed and it works fine. My son uses his comp which I set up the same day and it just works without the loader.
