The GMs have already stated that they prefer that the players handle this stuff themselves. They don't want to become involved in the politics and inter-guild spats.
This meeting between guilds is a logical move towards less GM involvement in guild relations. To hunker down and cry anarchy without the presence of a GM is counter productive for everyone.

I think this guild meeting can work wonderfully if everyone shows some respect. I'd still love to listen in.
