this country has deep rooted institutional racism, just because you don't see it doesn't mean it's not there. you usually won't see things unless you know what you're looking for. I used to be blind myself, i had numerous debates when i was younger with black friends about their views on white privilege, and how i thought it was bs. eventually i had an epiphany. |
See the problem isn't that anyone here is denying that racism exists and has a negative effect on a large portion of our society. The problem is that NO MATTER HOW RACIST EVERYONE AROUND THEM IS NOTHING EXCUSES PEOPLE FROM ACTING THE WAY SUBWAY DUDE FROM EARLIER DESCRIBED. NO AMOUNT OF RACISM EXCUSES PEOPLE PURPOSELY HAVING BABIES TO MAKE MONEY.
Unfortunately people like to turn a blind eye to the reality of the ignorance some people display and excuse it as them being poor disenfranchised, disrespected, and discriminated against souls who's only crime was to be born with dark skin. That's bullshit and the people who say stupid shit like that are these reason these people will stay poor ignorant indecent pieces of shit for life and for generations. No one holds them accountable for their actions? How do you think they are going to act? What do you think they are going to teach their children?

Racism doesn't excuse you from being accountable for your behavior. I don't know to what degree of white guilt you have to reach before that seems like acceptable behavior but it scares me.
