obviously its a game that can easily be based off who has better cards. So like the way diablo 3 is going to be you can pay to have better stuff. I haven't played this game since like 7-8th grade but one thing we used to do to even the playing field is to both play with just a starter deck. This will make sure both people have a similar in strength but slightly different in strategy and play style. I would suggest that if your just trying to play for fun and not trying to play in like tournaments and such. Theres no clear color advantage its all based on the cards you have. You cant send a 14/14 card into play that requires 3 islands and 2 plains cards to tap if you have all swamp mana cards. Its an interesting game with a big learning curve, i've also noticed different people have slightly different rules when they play. its kinda like "house rules" in monopoly. My grandma bought be an original 1993 edition 1 set back when it first came out, never opened it, sold it a few years later for Alot more then she bought it for im sure. have fun playing! i'd like to start playing chess again myself.
