Yes, they can heal each other but...
its totally NOT the same thing
Turning in your books DOES NOT equate to red pvp
turning in your books on a blue server is basically running around with auto /duel on for anyone else with it on, problem is....
there are tons of players running around with it OFF
That does not = pvp.. pvp opens up contention for item camps, raids and disputes
you cant solve any problems or do any of the above if blues dont want to /duel you (be red)
The other function of turning in your book is...
that it ONLY allows you to recieve beneficial buffs/heals/ports from others who are also red
(to stop anyones blue buddies from creating an unfair battle in a duel type scenerio)
So...
turning in your book opens up pvp capability to other reds, but cripples any long term or any serious play on a blue oriented server
and in short, turning in your book is equal to an enclosed, ongoing multiple duel ability (with limitations)
imo, being able to kill someone on EQ (outside of pnp) goes in this order:
1) duel - (single pvp)
2) turn in your book for "pvp" status - (multiple duels, cut off from the rest of the population)
3) play on a pvp server for "Red" status - (open or general pvp)
So you understand why "Reds" laugh at suggestions when they are asked to turn in their books and play pvp on a blue server
who would in all honesty, create an unfair environment or limit themselves (group/guild) to the rest of the server?

Okay, so this is working how I originally thought. So really the only difference between here (if all who wanted to turned in books) and Red99 would be that you couldn't kill blues out of camps.
Is that really where most of the fun is? I definitely see this being entertaining, but I can also see it losing its novelty pretty quickly. I thought the fun/competition/skill is more about actually combating players rather than doing tricks like engaging them when they're fighting mobs or charming their healer and running him out of the room when they're fighting Ghoul Lord.
