I may be in the minority with this viewpoint, but I actually like living in a city with 2.5 million people for the most part. The biggest two downsides for me is the traffic and pollution/air quality. For the most part the big increase in homeless hard drug addicts is not much of a problem for me, I’m not really ever going to be an attractive target for the dangerous ones. I could see women and frail elderly having much more of a concern there

I like having 2000+ possible matches within a 20 mile radius on dating apps. I have friends of friends who live in small towns where I hear they have literally run the gamut on possible dates for their area with no success. It’s like, shit, what do you do then? Mail order bride or move or something? I never stress over relationships because I know if it doesn’t work out, the expression “there’s plenty of fish in the sea” does apply to me far more than many other people in smaller towns

I like that some events like half marathon races and concerts have lots of people. I like the fact that if there’s something embarrassing about me, the entire town doesn’t know about it and spread it around by the next day. I like the fact the city is too big to have its “good ole boys” clique in group. There’s a lot of security in anonymity too

I think I would go nuts living on some homestead in the wilderness or even in a small quaint little town. I’ve only known big city life and I don’t mind it, other than those two big drawbacks I mentioned
