Honestly, P99 without PoK is probably the closest you're going to get to that old-school EQ feeling. The travel can be brutal at times, but it's also what makes the world feel huge again.
And yeah, seeing low-level characters running around Field of Bone is always a good sign. The server still has a steady stream of new players and returning veterans reliving the nostalgia.
As for random buffs, I don't think anyone is going to complain about free shaman buffs. I know I'd be happy to get one while killing scaled wolves. ��
Good choice on Iksar Shaman too. Strong class, self-sufficient, and always useful. Have fun getting lost, forgetting where everything is, and accidentally aggroing something 10 levels higher than you. That's part of the authentic EQ experience.
