You must not have a CHA set. The lull line of spells (that encs also get) is just as powerful for clerics. You can park mobs nearly as well as enc with the root line, and you get equally powerful single target stuns. Instead of mez you have the best and most efficient heals in the game (every other class eats a 10% penalty).

Clerics can also blur which is extremely nice for locking down adds.
