But from what I'm seeing in the discord, there's a good number of people who don't want anything to do with other players. It just seems odd to me when there's so many great single player games. I feel like I'd just get bored.

A lot of people's idea of gaming is to play the story and when that's over they want to check boxes on a list of achievements and do their dailies. Performing those tasks gives them some kind of dopamine hit.
