For me eq2 was the true successor because neither of the computers I had at each time could run the game well

WoW was basically EQ2 at launch too, just with a much better optimized engine and completely different art style. So yeah I think the "spiritual" successor to EQ is obviously EQ2 before it's WoW, unless "spiritual" requires that we leave out
actual successors, which it probably does I guess nevermind.
