Sure; first as an interrupt it may open up the ability to kill some casters that you otherwise couldn't, especially clerics -- e.g. totem stun to interrupt CH. Second, I think you could keep a mob perma stunned for 25+ seconds per totem (and still have time to use scars of sigil between stuns if necessary), so you might be able to kill slightly tougher mobs where chain pet isn't viable or use it to help split a double spawn. I haven't played mages much but maybe something like
