With the amount of twinking, buffs are almost superfluous at the point on blue server at least, but always welcome. Fewer to be had in and around Qeynos, but also less competition for quest turn-ins. And there are bandit sashes a few zones over for added xp/coin. The Qeynos bank is farther but fangs stack whereas CB belts/pads don't. Killing in Crushbone also comes with negative DE faction hits. IMO the OG devs probably saw how popular the quest was and decided to include a higher level version in Kunark with canine teeth from gnolls on steroids.
That said, there is quite a bit of nostalgia for pre-nerf orc scalps. Miss the days when the average commonlands orc could drop one.
