Oh wow i was curious and so in 1970s universal wanted to do a remake of king kong, but for whatever reason they had a court decide it was in the public domain.
Then in the 80s they sued nintendo for donkey kong and lost, becuase 20 years prior they did that public domain stunt.
Man IP law is fascinating idk why so many people worry about AI theft when these laws are so ironclad as is.
