I find it difficult to argue with you on this point. My wife, who was also raised in UT with a similar mormon upbringing as myself, has immense trauma with her sexuality because of mormon ideology. It's taken us 20+ years to help her heal from it all. How/why? You might ask? Because she feels immense shame whenever she feels pleasure from sex. Only recently has she "allowed" herself to enjoy anything sexual within our marriage because the mormon culture gave her the impression that simply enjoying sex somehow made her "unholy"
This aspect of the religion, and any other that are similar, I do see as problematic. Idk why we can't both agree to Christ's love and salvation while also simultaneously recognizing that sex is enjoyable.
