The famous line in Silence of the Lambs, "I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti" (Amarone in the book), Hannibal Lecter is making a medical joke. Liver, fava beans, and wine are all foods that you especially have to avoid while taking MAOI psych meds, because of nasty interactions. Lecter, being both a psychiatrist and serial killing cannibal, knows this.
