There already aren't enough jobs. Keeping everyone employed already depends on copious amounts of bullshit jobs that could easily be replaced by an LLM, as well as countless other non-bullshit professions where the entire left half of the IQ curve could be replaced by an LLM working under a human supervisor.
The first wave of industrial automation led to the modern welfare state, unemployment benefits, medicare, social security, etc. Hopefully if we're indeed in a new wave of intellectual automation, it leads to universal basic income. I want to do work that I want to do, for the sake of myself, my life, friends and family, and personal fulfillment... not out of coercion.

There is not a lack of jobs. We're in a labor shortage and have been for a long time. There might be a lack of overcompensated jobs, but there's plenty of opportunities to be a personal masseuse on a private island estate.
