I received this news today from TheGamer regarding Nintendo's lawsuit against a modder. I'm not certain how much money the guy made in the end after he pays the $2M fine, but he's better off than the other guy the article mentions. That guy has to fork over $10M and that's after more than a year in jail.
One more point. Note that Daly settled out of court which probably kept the fine low. The other guy went all the way to trial and lost. You can read about that in this article. So, when you start to compare these cases against DBG's case, it sure does indicate the final result. Right now it's just a matter of how long THJ can drag it out, but I have a feeling that's not a viable strategy in the long run because it just makes it more and more expensive for them in lawyer fees and inevitable fines or settlement. |
Did they go to jail for the infringement or for being a contempt ignorey bear?
