I guess when eq pvp isn’t trash as a fundamental thing
I loved playing on Sullon Zek. Not because I was actually killing other players, but because it felt like a survival horror game where I was constantly being stalked and fleeing and hiding while simultaneously trying to grind in a game that's pretty difficult even without high level players trying to gank you.

That being said the actual PVP in EQ is really bad. The only PVP I've ever actually enjoyed in an MMO is WoW, and Rift (briefly). Rift PVP was essentially a copy/pasta of WoW, although it lacked rated PVP of any kind, and the game died shortly after I discovered it so I only got like a month of enjoying it.

If there were ever a future EQ style MMO that comes out, despite the fact I'm a WoW PVP fanatic, I would prefer future EQ style MMO to kind of ignore PVP. Like have it as an option, sure, but don't balance the game around it. Part of what makes EQ so amazing is how grossly imbalanced all of the classes are. Almost every class sucks in one way, but is OP in another way.

In games like WoW where they balance the game around PVP, almost every class ends up becoming identical to one another. Even as a Rogue main, I think it's ridiculous that Rogues can heal better than Paladins. I think it's ridiculous that Paladins can now sprint, and blind like Rogues. Classes need to be unique, otherwise it just evolves into a game of playing whatever is FOTM rather than playing a character you enjoy for it's unique playstyle and gimmicks.
