Idk. I guess if all that fuel and maintenance is used. And the planes are nearing the end of their functional lifespan. May as well fly them around a bit before it's too expensive or the other option being they are replaced by much cooler UAPs or actually decent hypersonic missiles or space weapons.
Pretty sure there's no changing the track this trolley is on.
