For the question of: can a person exist without words? I’m assuming yes. The case study there would be anyone who is developmentally delayed to the point of non-verbal. I don’t see non-verbal adult clients all that much (they don’t have long lifespans sadly), but I have seen some. They communicate by using grunts or groans usually. They can understand some words though. Not sure if they are saying words in their own head
And no I don’t think a reflexive movement was conscious, that’s the entire point of a reflex. It is to move without having to activate the conscious part of the brain, usually because it needs to happen faster than conscious thought. There’s all sorts of ways to stimulate a nerve mechanically to cause a reflexive motion, like the old knee taps doctors do come to mind
Skimmed the first video and found the subject interesting but didn’t agree with his own personal takeaways. He seemed to take away that there’s all these random things happening in my brain and it’s constantly trying to justify those to itself. That’s not how I picture consciousness, personally

some work on this was done with a normal child, religious freak dad didn't teach his daughter language in an attempt to find the language prior to tower of babel or whatever the fuck, crazy sad story
