2) There are cultural factors that affect how a person behaves. Perhaps the German culture does value work ethic more than others. It wouldn't be hard to beat American culture of the past two decades on work ethic. There is more to this world than the narrow smallminded view you have developed.
Honestly, if a person, doesn't know, hasn't been, hasn't seen or can't speak German/Germany (or whatever nationality they claim to be) then it is nearly impossible for any cultural factors to take hold. From the sound of what Slathar said, she was implying that her work ethic is inherited genetically (which is silly).

But even besides that, if you aren't from the country that you claim your nationality to be, then you aren't that nationality. You're born in America, you are American.

For the amount of blind patriotism that flies through this nation, it's kind of silly how many people want to introduce their international affiliations. The fact of the matter is, most people who claim they are a certain nationality, will not last in the country of their ancestors. (for example, going to Ireland and thinking they are all drunk assholes is a misconception, and most American kids just make fools of themselves)
