Very interesting. But this was not the reality for many of us.
My memories of EQ back in the year 2000 was generally of decent players who did respect camps, didn't train or KS or ninja loot or any of that other anti-social BS. The Play Nice Policy was very much in force with Verant (as they were called at the time).
Now of course there were some anti-social idiots who did behave as you describe, absolutely, but they were the small (if loud) self-important minority. These folks tended to get petitioned of course, and would get little holidays from the GMs. I was one of those who petitioned folks like that, and back then, GMs would often respond and appear in person at the camp and take action swiftly.
Most of us appreciated it.
Not that the above has anything to do with shared accounts, mind you.
