I learned to drive with stick and had a manual for like 10yrs

Advantages:

Faster off the line, if you want to, because you can choose to redline before a gear shift (although some sportscar automatics have a mode that does this as well)

Slightly better gas mileage if you are paying attention and shifting as early as possible

Nowadays no one could steal your car because no one knows how to drive it

Disadvantages:

As cider said, inclines are annoying AF

Stop and go driving is annoying AF

Trying to eat while driving and working a stick is annoying AF

All in all, to me the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. My truck is the ONLY in existence for a mid size that offered a manual and despite knowing how to drive it I still went with automatic
