I think your plan of trying rogue, then doing necro is a good one, agnostic if you can for sure, although.. someone else might want to chime in about the necro because maybe there is a quest you can do with one of the others (idk! but someone will!)
You will have a tough time as the rogue, but you will experience the start of the game normally, soloing and killing skeletons and stuff, it will get hard fast! And you will switch to your necro, and then feel the major difference! That will teach you a lot about the game!
FWIW bertoxx necro is fun roleplay (but that starts in qeynos) but.. qeynos is really cool and is a good starting area if you are soloing! Though I don't want to turn you away from freeport!
