This seems like a bit of a moot point. It was still funded by different government agencies, and have you taken a gander at the E&E or “Energy and Environment” News part of Politico? (since that’s what it says in your article the US gov’t was funding)

Here’s a sample, do you detect a certain bias?

Basically the argument of “it wasn’t USAID” is splitting hairs to the crux of the problem

It was funded by US gov’t agencies, and the specific departments of Politico cited seem to be churning out left-wing Energy and Environment progressive propaganda

Then the question arises of, even if the other departments of Politico didn’t directly receive subscriptions, did they still benefit in some way from the funding? I’m guessing yea
