It's insane what you can accomplish when you don't have to worry about things like worker's rights, fair pay, environmental impact studies, engineering standards and other annoying business hurdles

Im certain that there are interests pouring money into screwing up rail travel in the USA. Ford motor company lobbied the crap out of many cities/states to prevent passenger rail in past decades
nowadays im sure that lobby also includes the airlines
