That's a good pace! Are there any other events around your area? Would you travel to do another one? I'm also someone who starts the race with a water bottle I carry with some electrolytes in. I sip from that to save stopping at the hydration tables among all those trip hazards.

Oh sure there’s lots in and around where I live because lots (millions+) of people. I think there is another half-m happening next month

But nothing comes close to the size and spectacle of this one. My race had 5,500+ ish competitors (I placed around top 650 overall, top 50 for my age out of 300), and that was down -1,500 competitors from last year (either due to the drug ozempic being a much easier method to fat loss than exercise, and/or the inflation/economy). And pre-covid it used to have like 30-50k competitors. And never will come close to that again, sadly

I agree on the water bottle! Mine also had a mix of Liquid IV and other powdered re-hydrator

But yea I tell myself yknow you can do some of the smaller (less competitors I mean) races this year. I told myself that last year and didn’t. But this year I think I might. I don’t travel much but if the race was a big and pretty enough spectacle, I could see that. Maybe something in CA
