You DO NOT start a fight with some drunk asshole who is trying to goad you into a fight. I don’t care if it’s about some hurty words towards your wife, your little kid, or your God. You WIN when you walk away from a drunk asshole trying to start a fight. Every time that’s a WIN
I can’t believe there’s tons of dudes out there saying “nah bro, you gotta stand up for your wife and fight”. You fight if the person is doing anything
physical to your wife yes. But over some hurty words?? Are you kidding me?
Let’s explore how that could go:
- You win the fight but lose big in court. You will 100% be seen as starting that fight because the other person just used words. “Fighting words” to my knowledge only has legal application when they are used in some states to attempt to challenge a cop to violence. Someone tossing insults and then you fight them…you still started that fight. So now what? You get a nice felony charge if you beat them up bad enough and can’t vote or own a gun now for the next decade? Yay! But at least you defended your wife’s “honor”
- You start a fight and he had a gun or a knife. Now you’re fucking dead. But at least you defended your wife’s “honor”
There’s some bro’s saying that anyone who doesn’t fight would have their wife leave them for being a “pussy”. I’d attempt to explain myself and if she still wanted to leave, there’s the fucking door baby! I am all about protecting women but I am not going to be a moron about how I do so, not for any gal
Now would I just say “cool” and do nothing like he did? Nah. I’d probably fire some hurty words back. Not with the goal of starting a fight but more because I would be pissed and probably not in complete control. If THOSE words started a fight, well, at least then I would be spared culpability due to all the people who would likely film it
