Did America get that upgraded self checkout shit yet? If you don't do the scan thing it flags an employee to come and investigate an action replay on the screen of what you did.
I was trying to scan a gift card barcode for someone and it involved peeling back a paper strip. Needless to say I screwed it up and left part of it covered so it wouldn't scan. I put it on a display next to the checkout (not in the scanned area) and everything shut down [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] The anti-theft technology is getting wild.

Yep! One time I grabbed something with my opposite hand, when I had been using the other hand the entire time before. For some reason using the opposite hand this time caused a brain fart where I dropped it into my bag without scanning it
The “You Fucked Up - Attendant Called” screen came on. And this super nice dude with a beard came over and unlocked the screen. And it showed a video of my theft. I apologized profusely and it happened to be a small cheap thing so that helped line up. He knows me from seeing me there dozens of times so he was like no prob. But the guy is so damn nice I coulda probably said hey I need to get like 3 diff things on the house and he woulda found a way
But it was crazy that it could detect all that. And put me on blast to the staff
