I have always enjoyed applying the scientific method to my addiction of choice (EQ). I genuinely find satisfaction in it - that’s why I parse things literally any time I’m on with a heads up display. I don’t often do the deep dive but it does give you a good general awareness.
Most common theme I see? People have no idea how much damage they actually do. Most people severely overestimate what they or some classes can do.

Same - I probably get more enjoyment from maths and data analysis than I do from video games, even. But I'm also a relative newb at EQ, having only played a total of about two years, never raiding yet, and mostly playing casters. Not much interesting to parse on a solo druid.
I'm sure that the Worn Shai`din Naginata at 37/45 +6str will clearly outclass the Spined Dragon Claws at 10/21 with offhand Green Jade Broadsword at 11/25 +8str, but absolutely no clue what the dps will be for each setup. It'll be fun to make some predictions before running the parses.
And thanks for sending me those parses, Troxx. They're really helpful for developing the methodology and coming up with the right hypotheses. I'll be able to get a parse for each side tonight to debug the methodology, but it'll probably take until this weekend to get enough data to share publicly.
