Cats in classic are erroneously missing ruined lion skin, but they have ruined cat pelts. I added them pending update. You'll need to go to Kunark in the meantime for the ruined lion skin.
Treants should be able to roam more than before, but there are too many, so that's been capped pending update. Note the zone has double the amount of mobs than before the patch, so they aren't taking more spawns than before.
The ghoul messenger and bandit pathing you mentioned is intentional.
