It's more like what happened after 2016.
The Houston TRASHtros cheated their way to a title in 2017 by banging on trash cans to signal what type of pitch was coming...the team kept their title and no player was punished.
MLB altered the baseballs, skewing 100+ year old statistics
MLB changing rules after 100+ years of playing the game the same way, ruining the integrity of the game. Pitch clocks, ghost runners, ect.
MLB focused entirely on analytical data and causing the sport to feel mechanical and robotic. Unnatural.
The best way to describe it is baseball has always been a timeless sport, unchanged, unadulterated. That was part of the magic of it. It was the same game my great grandfather watched...and his grandfather....Now it feels like something organic and natural has been ruined in an attempt to draw more fans in while pushing old fans out. Truly sad to witness...but nothing is sacred I suppose.
I'll miss the memories and I'll mourn the fact that I won't be taking my kids to games and watching it with them on TV. I wont be able to experience the magic of the game with them through MLB because its not the same game at all. Its hollow and lifeless now. That's alright tho more time for us to just go play the game as it was intended IRL.
