Cool man. So nrl get 6 attempts to get to tryline (touchdown) position matters here as well. Some plays can gain you another 6 attempts.

So attempting to gain yards by (what appears to be a bad play) only to "trick" your opponents with a zig instead of a zag can be a play? As long as you net 10 yards you get another go?

Fuck yeah.

I dunno what was invented first but all footy styles seem to be variations on themes.

Union has no set number of attempts to gain meters (yards) but other limitations.

League has 6 "sets" but can manipulate more within rules.

NFL has limited number of sets that are changed by acheiving a set number of yardage. Unless other criteria are met.
