Time spent making friends and having fun is never pointless. Honestly the remarks about likeable behavior and making friends being characterized as 'quid pro quo' and 'brownnosing' say it all. Extremely cynical, antisocial people who see every relationship as purely transactional. It's a shame that modern video game design tries to appeal to your sort of person instead of just pushing you out on an ice floe to float away.
