Fun fact.

The technological strengths of fascism were the utilization of radio and the still-new public address system. Goebbels purposely recruited radio broadcasters in the 1930's, and organized the development of an affordable radio that every family could afford (much as would be done later with the automobile). The PA system turns the histrionic bellowing of a modest looking man into the Voice of God.

That's how it works. Fascism always needs a set of technological instruments which are *heavily* used to cultivate the fascist spectacle.

It's always machines. Loud machines. Mussolini loved fast cars, and Italy to this day loves fast cars too, fascists in spirit to the end.

It would take a decade after the defeat of European fascism for Americans to create the predictable opposite reaction: rock and roll. Both the radio and the PA system became the instruments, not of hate, but of mass rituals of dance and liberation.

But still fascist.
