One last tip that I seen a decent amount of rogues die to in hardcore highlights vids: If you go engineering, and use a target dummy, the dummy is considered your pet. This means if mobs are attacking it and the rogue uses vanish, once the target dummy dies the mobs will bee-line for the rogue and pull him out of stealth
Seen a lot of confused rogues die to this. Either that or vanishing and then accidentally bumping into a fire or torch, revealing them
