There’s a lot of nuance to this though. A parent disappointed with what public school is doing with their kid really should look at either private school or homeschooling, those are options available
And I understand the school’s concern about not wanting to “out” a child who might be gay, the timing and method of reveal of that to their parents should ideally be up to the child. For counselors anyway, a child’s sexuality is confidential, a counselor is under no obligation to reveal that to a parent like they are of thoughts of self-harm or suicide (those the counselor ARE obligated to reveal to parent)
But gender identity and sexuality are different, it seems schools are lumping in gender identity with the “don’t out kids as being gay to their parents” rule when these are two very different things
