Man, you kind of suck. People here can't read Nietzsche. And Die Froliche Wissenschaft can be translated as "joyful science" but the English translator, Walter Kaufmann, in the 1950's, thought this was a more apt title because Kaufmann was a useful idiot vis a vis Nietzsche Studies. His translations were fair and quite readable. But he's a mid-level philosopher himself and kinda went too far thinking he "understood" Nietzsche. Hence why "The New Nietzsche" field arose in the 1970's, rejecting the Kaufmann reading entirely.

And the dude who coined the term, and organized the first batch of new interpretations of the old fool, was my honor's thesis advisor as an undergrad.

It's a strange community we got here, you know. Or used to.
